Jefferson County Home Elevation Grant Opportunity
FMA 2023
Jefferson County is preparing to make application for a Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant to help residents with the costs of elevating homes. This grant is available to residences that have experienced past flooding. The Grant is being offered through FEMA and managed by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB).
Am I a Candidate?
Properties need hazard mitigation assistance for a variety of reasons including repetitive flood losses, recent flood claims, outside levee protection, sewer backups, sinking foundation, and/or high flood insurance costs. Every grant program has different priorities for funding so individual properties that are experiencing any of the above listed reasons are encouraged to apply, however grant funds are not guaranteed.
Why mitigate?
- Helps reduce flood insurance premiums.
- Elevate or Build New to meet code compliance.
- Allow flood waters to flow under your home.
- Protect your property and contents.
- Keep your family safe.
- Keep your insurance rates affordable to maintain coverage.
General Eligibility and Cost Information
- Any resident that has experienced flooding and has NFIP insurance is eligible to apply.
- Cost Share is based on the number of paid flood insurance claims. The greater number of flood claims results in less cost share (75%, 90%, or 100%)
- The grant may pay a portion of temporary relocation expenses.
- The remainder of the costs will be paid for by the homeowner.
Why Should I Apply and Elevate my Home?
Click below to begin the process of determining eligibility and to find out more information about the home elevation grant. Deadline for making your application for this grant is October 15, 2023.
